Job description

Nesco Resource has openings in the Lebanon Junction area for a Press Operator. All shifts, pay rates depend on shift and experience.
Job Summary:

The Press Operator 2 is responsible for setting up, operating, adjusting, and maintaining a gravure or single/multi-color offset printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials. Tasks include interpreting job specifications, installing printing plates or cylinders, checking registration and image positioning, adjusting tension, and making necessary color or press adjustments to meet quality standards. Performs make-ready duties, minor repairs, and routine maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication, and part replacement. Ensures equipment runs efficiently and safely, following manufacturer guidelines and production requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate gravure or single/multi-color offset presses according to production specifications.
  • Review and interpret job tickets to determine press configuration and imposition requirements.
  • Install and inspect printing plates or cylinders, and make adjustments for image alignment, tension, and registration.
  • Perform make-ready tasks including prepping blankets, adjusting ink levels, and ensuring proper paper feed.
  • Conduct quality checks and make necessary press or color corrections to meet production standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged parts.
  • Troubleshoot press issues and perform minor repairs to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Follow safety protocols and manufacturer guidelines during press operation and maintenance.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Education equivalent to 8th grade plus additional classes.
  • Able to apply rational systems to solve practical problems with limited standardization; interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule-based instructions.
  • Capable of performing arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations in practical situations.
  • Able to read and interpret work instructions, safety rules, and technical materials; communicate clearly in writing with correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Requires 2 to 4 years of specialized vocational preparation.
  • Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE) during work.

Physical Requirements
  • Medium strength demand: Must be able to lift and carry 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, and 10 to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Frequent physical activities including reaching, standing, handling, fingering, and reaching upwards for 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.
  • Occasional activities such as walking, stooping, crouching, talking, and accommodation—typically required up to 1/3 of the time.
  • Good vision requirements, including near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, and color vision, all needed frequently for quality control and precision alignment.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for operating equipment, adjusting, and handling materials with precision.
  • Noise exposure: Must be able to tolerate a very loud work environment.
  • Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions and proximity to moving parts.
