Job summary

Mativ seeks a manufacturing technician to join our Knoxville production team. The role focuses on starting up and running equipment, inspecting product quality, reading drawings and tolerances, and maintaining accurate data in SAP.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in manufacturing, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety. Candidates should read rulers and blueprints, communicate clearly, and collaborate with staff to resolve quality issues.

Qualifications

• Must be able to interpret a variety of technical instructions.
• Able to read blueprints and take measurements with a ruler.
• Experience operating machinery and performing inspections in a manufacturing setting.
• Demonstrates knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality control.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation.
• Inspect products to meet quality standards and customer specs.
• Read, interpret customer drawings, measurements and tolerances, including blueprints.
• Operate and monitor multiple pieces of equipment for quality production and minimal downtime.
• Maintain accurate data in the SAP job costing module.
• Perform preventive maintenance and keep maintenance logs up to date.
• Follow safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
• Assist with loading/unloading and packaging as required.
• Collaborate with staff on quality and production issues.

This position will allow the successful candidate to apply their knowledge, learn new skills, and work as part of a team in a clean, safe environment. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of experience in the manufacturing sector, pays close attention to detail, and is committed to workplace safety.

Responsibilities:

• Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on multiple pieces of equipment.
• Perform inspections to ensure the product meets stringent quality standards and customer specifications.
• Read, analyze, and interpret customer drawings, measurements, and tolerances, including blueprints.
• Produce dimensionally accurate medical or non-medical products.
• Adjust gear ratios and re-registration within the press.
• Track time and materials used at the press by entering data in the job costing module (SAP).
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment per engineering procedures and ensure maintenance logs are up to date.
• Operate /monitor multiple pieces of equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work, and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
• Load and unload items on the production line, including packaging or unpacking products.
• Inspect products for defects and pull items off the line before they proceed further in the production process.
• Works with manufacturing staff on quality and production-related issues.
• Possesses the ability to read and understand ruler and traceability records.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions
• Ability to read blueprints and take measurements with a ruler
• Experience operating machinery and performing inspections in a similar function or environment
• Display knowledge of key areas of the manufacturing process
• Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general production records and procedures
