Job summary

Mativ is seeking a Machine Operator I to support production teams in a manufacturing environment. The role involves setting up machines, performing line changeovers, logging data into ERP, and assisting operators to meet key performance indicators.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication, math, and reading comprehension skills, with the ability to travel between facilities and work required overtime. Training is provided for equipment and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret production paperwork such as Sales Orders and Set-Up Sheets.
  • Set up machines for production per guidelines and specs.
  • Perform changeovers on extrusion line per customer specs.
  • Audit material consumption and loading.
  • Enter production data into ERP system.
  • Inspect and prepare customer samples per product specs.
  • Conduct tooling changes or machine adjustments.
  • Suggest improvements to production methods and equipment.
  • Attend shift and safety meetings as required.
  • Support operators to meet KPIs.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, the Machine Operator I Provides necessary support to the production teams, assists machine operators with assigned tasks, maintains materials and supplies, tracks inventories, and packages finished products. The position reports to the leader on any work status updates.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Reads and interprets production paperwork (e.g. Sales Orders, Production Notes Customer Specifications, and Set-Up Sheets)
  • Sets up assigned machine for production using previously determined guidelines and specifications
  • Sets up, maintains and performs changeovers on extrusion line by following customer specifications.
  • Audits material consumption and loading
  • Enters all production data into the Enterprise Readiness Planning (ERP) system
  • Inspects and prepares customer samples as required following product specifications
  • Conducts tooling changes or machine adjustments
  • Recommends improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and equipment used to increase the efficiency of plant, department, or work crew
  • Attends shift and safety meetings when required
  • Assists all operators and coworkers to meet organizational key performance indicators
  • Acquires skills to operate lines in one production segment
  • Performs duties of Utility and Machine Operator
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Required Education & Skillsets:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with workers, supervisors, managers and customers

Preferred
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Associate degree from a technical school
  • 1-3 years' experience with dies and extruders
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee must:

  • Be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Be able to push or pull heavy objects with mechanical assistance
  • Be able to work 12 hours shifts
  • Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk
  • Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist and balance; sometimes in awkward or tight spaces
  • Have good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus
  • Meet Mativ certification requirements to operate Power Industrial Trucks
PPE Requirements

Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment including;

  • Safety Glasses
  • Bump Caps
  • Protective Gloves; when performing certain tasks
  • Hearing Protection; when required
  • Other personal protective equipment as required for certain tasks

Conditions are that of a manufacturing environment.

Air Temperatures can range from cold to hot

Atmosphere may contain dust, fumes, and odors

May include mechanical, electrical, chemical hazards
