Job summary

Mittera Creative + Tech in Wisconsin is seeking a Press Manager to lead our press operation, including three web offset presses and one sheetfed press, and to drive performance, safety, and exceptional print quality.

You will mentor supervisors, optimize production, and partner with Scheduling, Prepress, Finishing, Maintenance, and Quality to deliver outstanding results for our customers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in commercial printing.
• Experience managing web offset and/or sheetfed presses in a commercial printing environment.
• Strong understanding of commercial print manufacturing, color consistency, workflow optimization, and production planning.
• Proven ability to lead supervisors and production teams while driving safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily workflow and performance of the press department (web offset and sheetfed).
• Lead, coach, and develop Press Supervisors to strengthen leadership effectiveness and team performance.
• Provide coaching and professional development opportunities for supervisors and staff.
• Develop and execute operational strategies to improve press performance, reduce downtime, minimize waste, and maximize throughput.
• Ensure compliance with customer specifications, print quality standards, and procedures.
• Drive department performance by monitoring safety, quality, productivity, waste, equipment utilization, and labor efficiency.
• Collaborate with Scheduling, Prepress, Finishing, Maintenance, and Quality for efficient workflow and on-time delivery.
• Partner with Maintenance to improve preventative maintenance planning and press uptime.
• Promote workplace safety and compliance with policies.
• Evaluate department performance using metrics and implement continuous improvement actions.
• Manage staffing and workforce planning to support business needs.
• Provide technical guidance for complex production challenges.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for supervisors and department personnel.
• Develop and execute operational strategies that improve press performance, reduce downtime, minimize waste, and maximize throughput.
• Ensure compliance with customer specifications, print quality standards, and company operating procedures.
• Drive department performance by monitoring and improving safety, quality, productivity, waste, equipment utilization, and labor efficiency.
• Partner with Scheduling, Prepress, Finishing, Maintenance, and Quality to ensure efficient workflow, on-time delivery, and exceptional customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with Maintenance to improve preventative maintenance planning, equipment reliability, and overall press uptime.
• Champion workplace safety by promoting safe work practices and ensuring compliance with all company safety and environmental policies.
• Evaluate department performance using production metrics and implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives as needed. Conduct performance evaluations and supports individual development planning for supervisors and employees.
• Manage staffing, workforce planning, and employee development to support current and future business needs.
• Serve as the department's operational leader, providing technical guidance and support for complex production challenges.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in commercial printing is required.
• Previous experience managing or supervising web offset, sheetfed, or a combination of both in a commercial printing environment.
• Strong understanding of commercial print manufacturing, including press operations, print quality standards, color consistency, workflow optimization, and production planning.
• Demonstrated success leading supervisors and production teams while driving safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement.
• Experience collaborating across Scheduling, Prepress, Finishing, Maintenance, and other production support functions.
• Experience using production metrics to improve operational performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Proven ability to build, coach, and develop high-performing leadership teams.
• Strong decision-making, communication, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
