Lab Crafters Inc. in Town of Islip, NY is seeking a Press Brake Setup/Operator to run a Amada/Trumpf press brake, read blueprints, set up tools, and bend metal to spec.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to read gauges and tape measures, and prior press operation experience in metal fabrication. 1st shift 6am-2:45pm, compensation aligned with industry norms.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with press machines in metal fabrication preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret drawings.
• Good math and analytical skills for measurements and tolerances.
• Experience working with industrial machines is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate Amada/Trumpf press brake per project details and blueprints.
• Read and interpret drawings, templates and blueprints to determine dimensions.
• Inspect first-part and finished pieces for size/shape accuracy during production.
• Maintain clean and safe work area and follow safety regulations.
• Report defective materials or equipment conditions to supervisor.

Press Brake Setup/Operator

Department: Metal Fabrication

Reports To: Metal Fabrication Manager

Available Shifts: 1st Shift 6am-2:45pm

Position Summary:

The press operator is responsible for handling press operations for the metal fabrication division of the organization. The operator uses an electrically powered industrial machine to create, shape and customize metal materials. You must know how to read blueprints to determine the measurements of each product and operate the press brake to cut and bend the materials into the shape according to specifications. Once the pieces are done, you will check to make sure they are the correct size and shape.

Requirements

• Previous experience with Press machine operation, whether through steel manufacturing or sheet metal work.
• Exemplary motor skills are required for the position, as brake press machines have multiple settings and levers that must be adjusted for each job and quickly manipulated through the steps of creating finished products.
• Good analytical and mathematical skills to interpret drawings, templates, and blueprints.
• Inspect "first-part", consult with quality assurance and inspect work pieces throughout the production run
• Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
• Set-up an Amada/Trumpf Press Brake machines following the project details and blueprints
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• Must be able to read gauges, tape measure and other measurement tools.
• Manufacturing related experience in a press environment is a plus.
