POSITION TITLE:President and Chief Executive Officer

ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION

The Agribusiness Council of Indiana is the proactive voice of businesses serving Indiana agriculture.It was formed by a combination of mergers of agribusiness associations that handle grain, feed, seed, plant food, and agricultural chemicals for farmers in order to represent this important industry in Indiana.

JOB CLASSIFICATION

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The President of ACI serves as the primary leader representing agricultural business interests across the State of Indiana and will serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the organization.The President will report directly to the ACI Executive Committee.This position requires a confident, outgoing, innovative individual who will be expected to perform the following major duties and responsibilities as outlined.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

·Engage, recruit, and retain membership through in person visits, calls, and other mechanisms

·Respond to member needs, inquiries, and interests with appropriate action through programming, lobbying, and other methods

·Manage and provide overall direction to an executive staff

·Serve as ACI's Chief Public Affairs Officer and acting Chief Executive Officer

·Serve as the ACI Foundation Chief Executive Officer

·Lead ACI's media, regulatory, and federal and state legislative affairs

·Work directly with ACI’s lobbying firm to direct, promote, and affect ACI’s policy interests

·Lead coordination of the annual association legislative and executive branch agenda and priorities with the ACI Policy Committee

·Direct the strategic activities of the association

·Provide motivation and a constructive, positive, collaborative environment and work culture

·Develop meeting agendas and lead all quarterly ACI Board meetings

·Lead monthly Executive Committee conference calls and providing updates on key activities and planning

·Participate in ACI committee meetings (both in-person and conference calls) to ensure continued coordination of key association activities

·Lead the implementation of the Indiana 4R Certification Program and ongoing sustainable success

·Represent ACI at member events and leading member conference calls

·Identify strategic partnership or sponsorship opportunities for ACI and bring forward recommendations to the ACI Board of Directors

·Lead ACI Director participation in an annual Washington, D.C. fly-in with national affiliates and coordinate meetings with the Indiana Congressional delegation and other political leaders

·Develop and maintain relationships with other state agribusiness associations as well as national affiliates

·Provide content for the weekly e-newsletter to ACI members -Drafting email alerts and other member updates as needed on timely topics (including policy updates event notices, ACI member news, or other association announcements)

·Oversee planning and coordination of the ACI Annual Conference program agenda by working with the Board to design the agenda and secure high-profile speakers

·Contact members in coordination with the Executive Director regarding sponsorship opportunities (including, without limitation, the Annual Conference, Women in Ag, Golf Outing, and Emerging Professionals Leadership Program sessions)

·Oversee planning and coordination of the Emerging Professionals Leadership Program

·Lead and develop growth in the ACI PAC

·Collaborate and coordinate with other agribusiness associations within the state, national associations, industry partners on events, trainings, education, and other items

·Seek updates and manage ACI representatives’ participation and service with other state and industry boards

·Attend relevant state and federal industry meetings and conferences

·Stay in close communication with Indiana State Department of Agriculture leadership and staff

·Represent ACI through serving on various boards and regulatory bodies, examples are: Indiana Ag Executives Committee, Indiana Ag Nutrient Alliance, Fertilizer Advisory Board, Global 4R Nutrient Stewardship Certification Council

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

·Preferred to hold a Bachelor’s degree in business or an agriculture-related field

·Experience or knowledge of advocacy, lobbying, or legislative procedures is preferred

·General knowledge in multiple facets of agriculture, including crop inputs, feed, seed, grain

·Collaborative personality with excellent relationship skills to effectively work in team environments

·Effective oral and written communication skills, especially within large group or meeting settings

·Sound judgment and decision-making abilities

·Ability to problem-solve and handle conflict

·Excellent time management and organizational skills

·Ability to work efficiently under pressure

·Ability to maintain confidentiality on key matters

·Ability to exercise tact and discretion

WORK ENVIRONMENT

·ACI Office is located at 8425 Keystone Crossing, #220B Indianapolis, IN 46240

·Flexibility to work remotely but suggested time in the office with ACI Staff two days per week or as required

TRAVEL

·Regular travel is expected and primarily will be within the State of Indiana - visiting member companies, prospecting, participating in events/meeting, etc

·Occasional travel will be expected outside of Indiana to agriculture conferences, lobbying in Washington DC, and for other reasons
