Position Overview

Tree Top Staffing is conducting a confidential executive search on behalf of a global manufacturer of high-performance, environmentally responsible composite building materials.

The company offers an expanding portfolio of outdoor decking, exterior wall and ceiling systems, cladding, fencing, railings, custom profiles, and outdoor-living solutions. Its products are distributed internationally and sold through established building-material distribution and retail channels across North America.

Following the retirement of the company’s General Manager after 12 years of leadership, we are seeking a commercially driven General Manager, North America to lead the next stage of U.S. growth.

This executive will lead a North American team of more than 20 employees, shape and execute the company’s national market strategy, expand key sales channels, develop new customers, and strengthen the company’s position throughout the building-materials industry.

The opportunity is designed for an entrepreneurial, hands-on leader who combines executive-level sales leadership with a demonstrated ability to personally develop customers, channels, and strategic relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the company’s U.S. commercial strategy, targeting annual revenue growth of at least 20% and broader national market coverage.
  • Lead, develop, and provide strategic direction to a North American team of more than 20 employees across sales and warehouse operations.
  • Personally drive new-customer acquisition and strategic business development throughout the United States.
  • Expand the company’s two-step distribution network and strengthen relationships with national and regional building-material distributors.
  • Develop and manage relationships with big-box retailers and other strategic retail partners.
  • Build relationships with architects, designers, landscape architects, builders, developers, and contractors to generate product specifications and major project opportunities.
  • Strengthen existing customer relationships while identifying underserved geographic markets, customer segments, and sales channels.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce new product categories, applications, and market solutions.
  • Provide market-driven recommendations regarding product optimization, product development, positioning, and commercialization.
  • Collaborate with international leadership, product development, manufacturing, supply-chain, and operational teams to support North American growth.
  • Monitor market conditions, customer needs, competitive activity, and channel performance to guide commercial strategy.
  • Report business performance, strategic progress, and market-development initiatives to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
Required Qualifications
  • At least 10 years of sales, business development, or sales leadership experience within the North American building-materials industry.
  • Demonstrated success developing and managing two-step distributor networks.
  • Proven experience building and managing relationships with big-box retailers or major national building-material retail accounts.
  • Established relationships within architect, designer, landscape architect, builder, developer, or contractor communities.
  • Strong record of developing new customers, opening new channels, and producing measurable revenue growth.
  • Experience leading, developing, and holding sales or cross-functional teams accountable for performance.
  • Ability to combine national commercial strategy with hands-on customer and channel development.
  • Willingness and ability to travel more than 50% throughout the United States, including periodic travel to New Jersey.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience with composite decking, wall panels, siding, cladding, fencing, railings, or wood-plastic composite products.
  • Relevant experience with adjacent building-material categories, including fiber cement, PVC, vinyl, or other exterior construction products sold through similar channels.
  • Established relationships within the AIA, ASLA, or NAHB professional communities.
  • Experience securing architect- or designer-specified projects.
  • Experience leading national sales growth or market expansion for a building-products manufacturer.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Entrepreneurial, performance-driven, and highly accountable.
  • A hands-on market builder who is comfortable personally developing customers while leading an established team.
  • Commercially aggressive while maintaining sound judgment and a long-term approach to customer relationships.
  • Strategic and analytical, with the ability to convert market opportunities into executable growth plans.
  • Effective in an autonomous, primarily remote leadership environment.
  • Comfortable collaborating across functions, cultures, and international operations.
  • A credible executive communicator with strong relationship-building and team-leadership abilities.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive executive compensation package, negotiable based on the successful candidate’s experience, qualifications, performance history, and industry relationships.
  • Medical and dental insurance.
  • 401(k) plan with a company contribution.
  • Two weeks of paid vacation.
  • Flexible, primarily remote working arrangement.
  • Significant independence in shaping and executing the company’s U.S. market strategy.
