Job description

Our client, Arc Experience provides before- and after-school programs, enrichment, and outdoor education courses for youth across greater Southern California. Their mission is to empower students through experiential learning, and they are entering an exciting new phase in their company’s development.

Arc is looking for a President to work directly with the CEO to turn strategy into disciplined execution while protecting and enhancing the ARC culture. Reporting to the CEO, the President will run the internal enterprise and lead the executive team to include the CFO, CPO, VP of Growth and COO.

The ideal candidate is a proven executive who has successfully scaled a complex, people-intensive organization through significant growth. ARC currently employs more than 1,300 people, operates across 100 locations in multiple Southern California markets, and delivers several distinct service lines. The ideal candidate has led organizations of comparable or greater complexity and, importantly, has firsthand experience building the leadership structures, systems, and operational discipline necessary to support substantial growth beyond that scale.

The President will be exceptional at taking an idea from: Strategy → Plan → Ownership → Metrics → Accountability → Results. We will look to the President to enhance organizational structure, systems, executive accountability, budgets, staffing, operations, and execution. The President will have the authority to bring greater operating discipline and scalability without creating unnecessary bureaucracy. Just as importantly, this person must be an outstanding leader of senior leaders, who sets clear expectations, develops talented executives, holds people accountable and is comfortable making tough decisions when necessary.

Role:
  • Lead execution of ARC’s long-term strategic plan and ambitious growth goals.
  • Build the systems, organizational structure and management discipline required for ARC’s next stage.
  • Translate strategy into clear priorities, ownership, KPIs and accountability.
  • Use data proactively to identify problems and opportunities.
  • Strengthen coordination and accountability across departments.
  • Lead, coach, and develop ARC’s executive team.
  • Improve organizational effectiveness, workforce stability, and operational consistency.
  • Drive strong financial performance through disciplined execution and thoughtful growth.
  • Simplify structures and processes that are easy to follow.
  • Pace organizational changes thoughtfully and sustainably.
  • Protect and strengthen ARC’s culture as the organization grows.
Outcomes:
  • A fundamentally stronger organization with senior leaders operating at very high-performance levels.
  • Departments operate together as one company rather than excellent individual functions.
  • A clear and effective sales and growth system with KPI’s, metrics and accountability.
  • Dramatically improved recruiting and retention systems and processes with all sites seeing measurable improvements in recruiting, retention, workforce stability, and staffing within budget.
  • Enriched culture AND strong financial performance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 15 years of business experience to include 3-5 years as a President, COO, or related executive level role.
  • History of success growing a complex people-intensive organization to (preferably) $80 million or more.
  • Familiarity with school / governmental education or related A .
  • Ability to travel from the northern reaches of Los Angeles County to the southern California border in San Diego, to Imperial Valley, Riverside and San Bernardino counties as needed.
