Job summary

The Biltmore Company is seeking a Conservation Technician to support conservators in preserving objects from the estate collections. The role emphasizes preparing objects for permanent storage, documentation, preventive care, and research support.

You will work under supervision, with autonomy for prioritized tasks, and contribute to safety protocols, PPE use, and proper handling in a fast-paced museum setting on the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; related field preferred.
• 2+ years of conservation lab or museum experience preferred.
• Experience preparing varied collections for storage or relocation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing objects for move to storage, including cleaning and re-housing.
• Help with maintenance of displayed and stored collections.
• Assist with incident response and documentation per standards.
• Support research, documentation, and conservation studies as needed.
• Follow safety protocols and use PPE per OSHA guidelines.
