Job summary

The Nature Conservancy in Greenville, SC is seeking a SC Mountains Burn Crew Member to implement prescribed fire on Conservancy and partner lands. You will work across montane forests and other terrains, learning burn techniques and maintaining safety and certification standards.

Responsibilities include planning, preparation, and field execution of prescribed burns, with travel to various preserves and occasional overnight stays.

Qualifications

• FFT2 certification and IS-100/IS-700/L-180/S-190/S-130 trainings.
• Ability to carry a 45lb pack 3 miles in under 45 minutes.
• Must obtain related licenses/certifications (First Aid/CPR).
• Willingness to travel, weekends, and maintain a flexible schedule.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Willingness to provide lace-up boots, min 8 inches in height.

Responsibilities

• Implement prescribed fire on TNC and partner lands.
• Assist with planning and preparation for prescribed burns.
• Support burn operations in multiple SC locations and occasional out-of-state travel.
• Maintain professional relationships with fire partners and communities.
