Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education from PSC-approved college or university
• Georgia certification requirements met
• Experience in special education preferred
• Strong knowledge of GCPS AKS curriculum
• Ability to integrate technology into instruction

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide learning experiences based on the district's AKS curriculum and foster intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development.
• Demonstrate command of the subject being taught and provide direct or specialized instruction as per IEPs under GCPS guidelines.
• Consult with teachers and administrators to develop academic and behavioral management programs.
• Participate as a faculty member and perform school duties.
• Conduct in-service programs on special education and IDEIA.
• Collaborate with regular educators to support students with disabilities in regular classrooms.
• Develop and prioritize long- and short-term instructional objectives based on AKS.
• Plan instruction to promote mastery of prerequisite skills and knowledge.
• Evaluate, select, and modify resources aligned with AKS and learner needs.
• Oversee assessment activities including screening and diagnostics and communicate results to parents and teachers.
• Provide formative and summative assessments and maintain records of student progress.
• Organize content and learning environment to maximize student time on task and maintain order.
• Maintain behavior conducive to learning and engage all students with warmth and enthusiasm.
• Assist with the physical needs and safety of students when appropriate.
• Oversee due process, eligibility/placement teams, and required reporting.
