Summary

The Early Learning Center, Inc. (ELC) seeks a full-time preschool educator to join our community. We serve 38 children from 6 weeks to 5 years old in a 4-STAR, S.E.E.D., and Sew certified early education program located in Fort Ethan Allen, near St. Michael's College. Our history dates back to 1982, emphasizing relationship-centered care and deep connections with families, children, and staff. We are committed to re-imagining early education and fostering a supportive community.

The position includes a $2,000 sign-on bonus, paid in installments at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months. Benefits include vision, dental, paid time off, childcare discounts, and a $1,500 stipend for licensed educators with an early childhood endorsement.

Position Highlights
  • Support a nurturing community for staff, families, and children.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curricula and positive learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with caring educators who believe in children's learning potential.
Responsibilities
  • Stay informed about Vermont Licensing Regulations; report suspected abuse or injuries as required.
  • Implement Vermont Licensing requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with families via newsletters, email, and meetings.
  • Create safe, high-quality learning environments.
  • Maintain professional development, including 15 hours of training annually, and current pediatric first aid and CPR certifications.
  • Follow AOE regulations to maintain an active license.
  • Ensure a safe environment for children, staff, and visitors, understanding emergency procedures.
  • Accept children unconditionally, respecting their personalities and communication styles.
  • Maintain play resources and materials with staff support.
  • Set and uphold expectations for children.
  • Promote diversity and cultural awareness.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training.
  • Serve as a resource for families and hold parent conferences twice a year.
  • Maintain children's portfolios using Teaching Strategies Gold and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Minimum Requirements
  • Associate degree in early childhood education or related field, with additional credits and credentials as per Vermont regulations.
  • Infant/child CPR/AED and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
  • Satisfactory background check.
