Job summary

The Jewish Community Center of Staten Island is seeking a Teacher Assistant for Extended Care to support a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for preschool children. You will help implement educational goals and supervise children to promote physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth.

You will collaborate with staff, communicate professionally with parents, and help ensure policies and regulations are followed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Resume with 3 letters of Recommendation.
• Experience in education or childcare (preferred).
• Fingerprint Clearance
• NYS Clearance
• Medical Clearance
• Complete Required Training

Responsibilities

• Support daily routine consistent with the needs of the department and the children.
• Provide and ensure appropriate and sensitive interaction with the children at all times.
• Provide and ensure appropriate language and positive methods of disciplinary intervention as defined by staff policies.
• Ensure that the Department of Health, Bureau of Day Care regulations are followed.
• Maintain confidentiality of child, parent and staff information.
• Keep Coordinator informed of incidents related to accidents, child’s activity, or extraordinary circumstances.
• Represent the Center in all forums.
