Welcome to Newark Day Nursery and Children's Center! We are a nonprofit childcare center dedicated to providing the highest quality early childhood and school‑age services to educate, enrich and inspire children and youth from culturally and economically diverse families.

We are looking for a full‑time Lead Preschool Teacher to care for and educate our pre‑kindergarteners. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a difference in one of the most formative and developmental stages in a child’s life. As a preschool teacher, you will be tasked with creating a nurturing environment that encourages curiosity, promotes creativity, and respects the individuality of each child.

Responsibilities

• Create engaging, hands‑on and age‑appropriate lesson plans
• Build strong relationships with children, families, and co‑teachers
• Implement age‑appropriate activities that foster cognitive and emotional growth
• Maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment
• Develop social skills through structured play and interaction
• Observe and document children’s developmental milestones
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a cohesive educational program
• Communicate with parents and caregivers about their child’s progress

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in a pre‑school or daycare setting
• Previous experience working with children ages 3–5
• Familiarity with child development theories and practices
• Must be First Aid & CPR certified, or willing to obtain certification within 30 days of hire
• Minimum of Assistant Teacher Certification through DEEDS preferred
• TECE Certified preferred
