Job summary

Savannah-Chatham County Public School System is seeking a Paraprofessional (PSI Classroom) to provide educational support for preschool students with significant disabilities. The role reports to the Principal and works under the Classroom Teacher to reinforce instruction.

The position requires a GED or high school diploma, with preferred an Associate's degree. Candidates must meet Highly Qualified criteria and be able to assist with personal care and safety needs as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required.
• Associates degree preferred.
• Must meet Highly Qualified criteria: 2 years college credits or Associates degree or passing score on state assessment.
• Ability to reinforce material and guide students with enrichment and independent work.
• Knowledge of general office software and internet use.
• Strong oral and written communication with students, parents, and coworkers.
• Must have physical ability to work with students with special needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction using the preschool curriculum under teacher direction.
• Instruct students 1:1, in small groups, and in whole class settings.
• Prepare activities and bulletin boards according to the preschool goals.
• Assist with feeding, toileting, dressing, lifting, and safety of students as needed.
• Perform clerical duties and support classroom operations.
