Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant-Preschool Special Education to support licensed teachers in a classroom setting. The role includes one-on-one student support, modification of instructional materials, and reinforcement of learned skills for students with IEPs.

Under general supervision, the candidate will collaborate with the teaching team, monitor student safety, and participate in professional development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or working towards an associate or bachelor's degree.
• 48 hours of college credits evidenced by transcript or 96 PD hours with WorkKeys.
• No certification/license required.

Responsibilities

• Follows all rules and policies of WCPSS and regulations relating to special education services.
• Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce skills.
• Assists in devising strategies based on individual needs and behavior plans.
• Assists with implementing behavior interventions under supervision.
• Creates and modifies instructional materials to match student abilities.
• Monitors student behavior and maintains a structured classroom environment.
• Maintains confidentiality of student information.
• Participates in professional development and training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
