Job summary

Springfield City Schools in Columbus, Ohio, seeks a Paraprofessional for Clark Preschool for the 2026-2027 school year. We are a district serving approximately 7,500 Pre-K through 12 students with a 1:1 initiative and a wealth of digital learning resources.

As a Paraprofessional you will assist teachers, work with students on academic tasks, and help prepare materials and transport students using assistive technology.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Evidence that meets NCLB certification requirements (60 credit hours, Associate's Degree or higher, or paraprofessional exam).
• Ability to obtain Ohio Teacher's Educational Aide Certification.
• Complete 45 hours of training in child development; early childhood education; child abuse recognition and prevention; first aid; and prevention, recognition and management of communicable diseases; maintain required trainings notebook.

Responsibilities

• Assist Teachers in providing educational benefits for students.
• Work with students on academic assignments and/or physical needs.
• Assist Teachers in preparing materials, operating classroom or mobility assistive technology, and attending workshops and trainings.
• Lift students up to 50 pounds with a 1-person lift, or up to 300 pounds with a 2-person lift, up to 20 times per day.
• Assist students in transitions between classes within a 4-minute passing time by walking, guiding or pushing the student.
• Assist students on steps, boarding and exiting transportation, with support up to 300 pounds.
• Move from seated to standing 15-20 times per 3-hour period.
• Run after and catch a student in flight on various surfaces if needed.
• Assist with delegated nursing duties with proper training.
• Provide diapering and restroom assistance as needed.
• Maintain a solution-focused mindset and regulated emotional state.
• Adopt Leader in Me framework and collaborate with colleagues to teach the framework.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect student data and provide instruction.

Education
