Job summary

Lake Washington School District in Kirkland, WA, is hiring a paraeducator to support teachers and students with physical or behavioral needs in a preschool setting at Keller Elementary within the Juanita Learning Community. The position follows a 150-day calendar and 6 hours per day from 8:15am to 2:45pm.

The role involves helping with instruction, classroom preparation, data entry, and assisting during bus or playground activities while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to LWSD policies.

Qualifications

• Must hold an AA degree or higher or have completed 72 quarter credit hours or hold ParaPro/Paraprofessional certification.
• Official documentation required upon hire.
• Must pass criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Assists student(s) with assignments and organizational skills.
• Provides physical assistance for student(s) to complete tasks.
• Encourages participation and helps maintain focus on assignments.
• Assists with motivation, behavior management, and positive verbal communication.
• Models appropriate social skills and redirects student behavior as needed.
• Provides for physical/health/safety needs, including lifting and de-escalation.
• Assists with implementing student IEPs under supervision.
• Enters data, documents attendance, and communicates with parents.
• Follows LWSD policies, procedures and protocols.
• Supervises students in library, classrooms, or on buses when needed.
