Job summary

Spokane Public Schools seeks a paraeducator to support students with disabilities in preschool classrooms. You will provide instruction, assist with IEP implementation, and help gather data to inform learning.

Qualifications

• Provide instruction in core academic areas designed by the teachers/specialists.
• Assist the special education/general education teacher in implementing the student IEP, including accommodations and modifications.
• Assist the teacher in preparing materials and collecting and recording data.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a contributing member of a collaborative team. Assist the teacher in implementing behavioral and social skills programs as designed and supervised by certificated staff.
• Under the supervision of certificated staff, implement the district de-escalation and soft-restraint techniques as needed.
• Assist students with physical and mobility needs and personal care. Manage student equipment and supervise safety in multiple settings.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent + 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits from an accredited college, AA or BA degree, OR pass an academically rigorous assessment
