Job summary

The Y of Central Maryland seeks a dedicated Preschool Teacher to plan and supervise early childhood classroom activities, including lesson plans, schedules and transitions, while upholding state standards and the Y’s education approach. Qualifications

• Enthusiasm for young children and a positive attitude.
• Ability to clearly communicate with children, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
• At least 1 year of early childhood experience.
• Includes a 90 hour child care certification.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and supervise the early childhood classroom structure, including lesson plans, schedules, routines and transitions.
• Lead the classroom and support associates while adhering to state standards and the Y's educational approach.
• Ensure health, welfare and safety of children enrolled in the program.
• Create an environment that fosters social, emotional, physical, cognitive and creative development.
• Contribute to the community by helping young participants prepare for school and life.
