Job summary

The Y of Central Maryland is seeking a dedicated Preschool Teacher to plan, manage and supervise early childhood classrooms, including lesson plans, schedules and routines in a supportive, mission-driven environment. You will lead the classroom, ensure health and safety, align with state standards and the Y’s approach to early childhood education, and help prepare young children for school and life.

Qualifications

• Enthusiasm for young children, patience, good humor, good judgment and a good spirit.
• The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates
• At least 1 year of early childhood experience
• A high school degree or GED
• Your 90 hour child care certification

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and supervise early childhood classroom structure, including lesson plans, schedules, routines and transitions.
• Lead the classroom and support associates, while ensuring adherence to state standards & regulations and to the Y's philosophy and approach to early childhood education.
• Ensure the health, welfare, and safety of the children enrolled in our program.
• Create an environment which fosters the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of each child.
• Contribute to the Y and to the overall community by helping children prepare for school and life.
