Job summary

Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation Head Start is seeking a Substitute Cook Aide to support the food service program in a preschool setting. The position is intermittent/on-call and covers meals preparation, cooking, and serving for children, families, and staff at all centers.

You will assist the cook with meal planning, inventory, CACFP compliance, and basic nutrition activities, under the Food Service Manager's direction, with opportunities to work independently after routine

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in institutional, commercial, or educational food setting.
• Experience working with young children.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Criminal background check required.
• Must have valid Washington State Driver's License with ability to obtain Tribal Driver Permit with Defensive Driving Course certificate (to be updated every 2 years).
• First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire and maintain certification.
• Food Handler's Card or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire and maintain certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of meals in a preschool setting.
• Assist in CACFP meal counts and reports.
• Assist in inventory of food supply and shopping for replacement items.
• Deliver food, utensils and cleaning materials to classrooms.
• Ensure health and safety standards in the kitchen and related areas.
