Job summary

SEK-CAP, Inc. is seeking a full-time cook to support Head Start meal programs across multiple sites in Kansas. You will prepare meals, follow monthly menus, and ensure compliance with CACFP, health and safety standards, and nutrition guidelines.

You will train cooking staff, monitor sanitation, and collaborate with teachers to support children’s dining experiences and healthy eating habits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days.
• Background check and drug screen required.
• Must possess valid driver's license and be insurable.
• Basic math skills to compute CACFP records.
• Time management skills to prepare and serve food on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain food at appropriate temperatures following CACFP guidelines.
• Train new cooking staff and substitute for absent staff as needed.
• Review menus and prepare quantities per monthly menus.
• Maintain clean and safe kitchen and dining areas, equipment and utensils.
• Educate about nutritional values and food groups.
• Adhere to Head Start standards and program policies.
