Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 60 semester hours of college credit or associate degree or ParaPro assessment.
• Experience in nursing, childcare, or special education preferred.
• Ability to supervise and teach students; maintain confidentiality.
• Clear oral and written communication; basic computing and spelling skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction as directed by the teacher for individual student programs.
• Attend to attendance, lunch money, and prep classroom materials.
• Help set up the classroom and adapt materials for young students.
• Observe and record data on student progress and behavior.
• Assist with student safety during bus transitions and emergencies.
• Support personal care and hygiene needs of students and handle body fluids safely.
• Respond to medical needs and assist with emergency situations.
• Maintain safety in the classroom in the absence of the teacher.
• Support daily activities, snacks, and story time as per lesson plans.
• Escort and supervise children during activities and exits.
• Participate in in-services and workshops to improve skills.
