Job summary

Hampton Roads Community Action Program is seeking a Substitute Pre-K Teacher Assistant to support a learning environment for preschoolers. You will help with health checks, greeting students, and assisting in lesson planning and classroom management.

The role involves maintaining child files, supporting individualized skill development, and coordinating with families and staff on conferences and monthly reports.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required; Associate Degree preferred.
• Experience working with preschool-aged children is preferred.
• Good writing and organizational skills are necessary.
• A background check and a valid Virginia Driver’s License are required.

Responsibilities

• Teaches up to 20 children.
• Greets children daily on arrival and departure.
• Performs spot health checks on arrival.
• Assists with writing weekly lesson plans and curriculum.
• Maintains classroom supplies inventory and requests needed items.
• Maintains confidential child files and accurate caseload documentation.
• Supports individualized service plans for each child across developmental areas.
• Documents conferences and submits monthly reports/updates to designated staff.
• Maintains accurate class roster with essential contact information.
• Engages parents in classroom activities and attends trainings.
