Job summary

Oregon Child Development Coalition (OCDC) is seeking a Preschool Instructional Assistant to support teaching staff in maintaining a safe, healthy classroom for preschoolers across Oregon. The role includes supervising children, assisting with daily routines, and helping implement activities in a nurturing environment.

The position offers stepwise pay with regional variations and requires a High School Diploma or GED, plus a CDA or college certificate related to early childhood development.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or Diploma/ED Secundaria when combined with CDA or college cert.
• Preschool CDA certificate or equivalent training in early childhood development.
• Two metro location pay differentials acknowledged; placement by experience and internal equity.

Responsibilities

• Assist teaching staff in maintaining a safe, healthy preschool classroom.
• Supervise preschool-age children on classroom and playground with positive guidance.
• Support daily routines—toileting, dressing, meals, transitions.
• Help implement daily activities: free play, story time, learning centers.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness and replenish supplies.
• Communicate respectfully with children, families, and staff.
• Provide coverage to maintain child-to-teacher ratios during staff breaks.
• Record-keeping and documentation as assigned.
