Job summary

Schenectady Community Action Program is seeking an early childhood assistant to support the Head Start curriculum and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment for children in Schenectady, NY. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Head Start preference.
• Demonstrated experience with preschool children.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
• Background check required under NYS Day Care regulations and Head Start standards.
• Ability to work with diverse families in poverty and communities.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Teacher in implementing the Head Start curriculum daily.
• Maintains a safe, healthful learning environment for children.
• Prepares supplies and sets up classrooms for planned activities.
• Performs daily housekeeping to keep the classroom clean and orderly.
• Encourages parent involvement and supports volunteers in the classroom.
