Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Demonstrated experience with preschool children.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
• Must provide a health clearance per NYS Day Care regulations.
• Background check required by NYS Day Care regulations and Head Start standards.
• Knowledge of poverty-related issues and serving diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Teacher in implementing the Head Start curriculum and maintaining a safe, healthy learning environment.
• Assists in preparing supplies and setting up classrooms to meet curriculum and individual learning goals.
• Performs daily classroom housekeeping to maintain a clean, orderly space for children.
• Collaborates with classroom staff to encourage parent involvement and welcome volunteers.
• Participates in supervisor-approved trainings to learn new techniques and best practices.
