Job summary
YMC in Glastonbury, CT is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Head Teacher in daily preschool education and care. You will help supervise classroom activities, outdoor play, and implement developmentally appropriate curricula.
The role emphasizes confidentiality, inclusivity, and adherence to safety procedures, with opportunities to contribute to CACFP/USDA reporting and program operations.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of ECE development and Connecticut standards.
- Warm and nurturing personality.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
- May access Protected Health Information (PHI) to perform duties.
- Able to work in a preschool classroom with potential exposure to communicable diseases.
- Outdoor playground environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Teacher in daily classroom supervision, including outdoor play activities.
- Assist in creating and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculums and timely submission of forms.
- Use knowledge of child development to assess and plan for individual children.
- Supervise parents and classroom visitors.
- Assist in safety drills and emergency procedures.
- Prepare materials, attendance, and CACFP/USDA reports.
- Maintain confidentiality of child and family information.
