YMCA in Plainville, CT, is seeking an Assistant Teacher (Part Time) to support preschool learning and care. You will assist in daily classroom supervision, including outdoor play, with a focus on safety and positive discipline, under supervision of the Head Teacher and Child Development Director.

The role emphasizes inclusive, anti-racist practices, developmentally appropriate lesson support, and maintaining confidential child information.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Early Childhood Education development and standards.
• Warm, nurturing demeanor and strong communication with families.
• Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus and helpful for a diverse community.
• Ability to work in a preschool classroom and support daily activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Teacher in daily classroom supervision and outdoor play.
• Promote inclusive, anti-racist practices and a respectful culture.
• Help implement developmentally appropriate curricula and complete required forms.
• Plan for individual children using knowledge of child development.
• Supervise parents and visitors in the classroom.
• Support safety drills and emergencies and prepare materials for daily program.
• Assist with attendance, meal counts, CACFP or USDA reports.
• Follow food handling, sanitation, and OSHA procedures.
