Job summary

OAHE Family YMCA is seeking a Preschool Assistant Teacher to support a play-based program that nurtures growth in young children. You’ll work with a lead teacher to create a warm, engaging classroom and guide kids through activities that foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

This role emphasizes strong family partnerships, reliable communication with caregivers, and collaborative teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience with young children in educational or childcare settings preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred or obtainable within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities.
• Supervise and engage children during play, ensuring a safe environment.
• Communicate with parents about children’s progress and development.
• Maintain an organized classroom and prepare materials for activities.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development.
