Job summary

CAIRO Academy is seeking an Assistant Teacher to join our team at multiple Portland-area preschools. You will assist the Lead Teacher in implementing a play-based curriculum and in daily classroom operations with students aged 3–5.

You will collaborate with teachers, coordinate activities, and support children’s social, emotional and cognitive development. Applicants should have 1+ year in a certified childcare setting and meet Oregon registry requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in a Certified Childcare Center with students ages 3-5 years old.
• Experience teaching in inclusive settings supporting varied needs.
• Must be at least 18 years old and meet Oregon criteria (Step 6 or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher in coordinating the curriculum and daily classroom operations.
• Support a safe, engaging learning environment and student success.
• Communicate effectively with children and parents/guardians.
• Step in for Lead Teacher on leave when required.
