Qualifications

• Two years of college OR pass the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment.
• Must meet Physical Performance Requirements.
• Additional qualifications as the Superintendent or Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assists the teacher in preparing the classroom activities, and works with individual children or small groups of students to reinforce or follow-up what has been taught by the teacher. Supervises the classroom when teacher has to leave the room.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the health and safety of students and promotes character building and human relations.
• Preserves and maintains the confidentiality of all school business.
• Cares for materials and equipment and assists with displays and classroom arrangements.
• Assists the teacher with non-instructional duties such as, but not limited to, cafeteria and playground supervision, field trips, toilet and clothing routines, and assists students loading, unloading and riding the bus.
• Participates in training programs or meetings as required.
• Provides and performs student health services as directed by Supervisor after receiving appropriate training as required by law.
• Moves around and circulates in assigned areas.
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Preschool Teacher, Preschool Coordinator, or Superintendent.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Associate degree preferred
