IECE PRESCHOOL TEACHER

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Kentucky Certificate with proper endorsements.

2. Such additional qualifications as the Superintendent or Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS: Preschool Coordinator

SUPERVISES: Preschool Assistants

JOB GOAL: To maintain and implement a Preschool educational program where the child secures self-discipline, getting along with others and self-help skills necessary for future school success.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Designs developmentally/individually appropriate activities based on learning experiences, and special needs for preschool age children.

2. Bases curriculum and instruction on developmental needs and Kentucky’s learning goals and incorporates knowledge of child development theory and research.

3. Manages antecedent/consequent conditions to foster self‑management skills in preschool age children.

4. Facilitates positive interaction between children and adults and involves parents as partners in the education of their children.

5. Demonstrates knowledge of recommended practices and research in instructional strategies and management, program evaluation, and family systems theory and family centered services.

6. Makes home visits as required by program guidelines.

7. Applies state/national guidelines/mandates in child evaluation and uses assessment tools/procedures according to standards.

8. Demonstrates knowledge of recommended practices and research in the assessment process, and in interdisciplinary collaboration and consultation.

9. Evaluates impact of the program on child learning/development.

10. Provides and performs health services as directed by Supervisor after receiving appropriate training as required by law.

11. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Preschool Coordinator or the Superintendent.

TERM OF SERVICE: Salary and workdays to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
