Chippewa Valley Schools seeks a Preschool Aide for Sequoyah in Clinton Township, MI. Part-time role from 11:30am–2:00pm (2.5 hours daily), starting immediately. Pay is $15.44–$16.89 per hour; replacement of Jennifer Griessel.

Supports the teacher to provide a safe, engaging learning environment for preschoolers while maintaining confidentiality. A high school diploma, 16 hours of early childhood classes, and CPR/First Aid certification are required.

Qualifications

Position Summary

Supports the teacher to insure the best possible learning experience for preschool age children in a safe and secure environment while maintaining confidentiality.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom under the supervision of the teacher as directed; duties may include crafts, games, stories, lunchtime, etc.
  • Assist teacher in planning and organizing daily events.
  • Assist children that are not toilet trained, as needed.
  • Monitor children on the playground.
  • Communicate with community, staff, and students to answer questions, disseminate or explain information.

Education:

This position requires high school diploma or equivalent.

Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:

16 hours of early childhood development classes and CPR/First Aide certification yearly per State requirement.

Experience:

  • Experience working with children's groups and/or training in early childhood development or childcare, preferred.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of school policies and safety regulations, required.

Skills:

  • Good communication skills, required.

Abilities:

  • Ability to be caring, understanding, and friendly towards students, required.
  • Ability to relate to children with special needs, required.
  • Ability to read and interpret school policies and handbook, required.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and community, required.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to perform essential job duties, including but not limited to understanding and following safety instructions, responding appropriately to emergency situations, completing documentation, and interacting with English-speaking staff, students, community and supervisors, required.
