Job summary

Rochester Community Schools is seeking a GSRP Caregiver to join multiple preschool locations in the Rochester Hills area. The role is part-time for the 2026-2027 school year with a schedule from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, at $15.00 per hour.

The ideal candidate holds a High School Diploma and has experience with preschool children or the HighScope curriculum, with the ability to work under supervision and maintain reliable attendance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.

• Ability to interact positively with school/community and work with limited supervision.
• Ability to interact appropriately with children.
• Physically able to participate with young children and perform required lifting.
• Reliable, punctual attendance required.

Responsibilities

• Supports children’s pro-social development with respect, kindness and compassion.
• Follows health, safety, and sanitary procedures; monitors playground safety and supply use.
• Checks IDs of unknown persons picking up children; knows emergency procedures.
• Informs GSRP Teacher of safety or behavioral issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned by GSRP Teacher or Supervisor.
• Implements the GSRP as defined by the state Department of Education.

SUPERVISES: None

JOB GOAL: To work as a member of an early childhood teaching team, engaging children in a play-based learning environment, following the High Scope curriculum.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. * Assists children who have intense and challenging behaviors.

2. * Engages with children during all aspects of the school day.

3. * Promotes curiosity and discovery (indoors and outdoors) by encouraging children to become actively engaged with classroom equipment and materials.

4. * Supports children’s pro-social development by reflecting respect, kindness and compassion for others.

5. * Follows all school and licensing procedures to safeguard health and safety of the children, including hand washing, appropriate sanitary measures, playground safety rules, and rules regarding the use of supplies and equipment.

6. Remains knowledgeable about information forms and emergency procedures; checks identification of unknown persons picking up children from the program.

7. Is knowledgeable of fire, tornado, or other emergency procedures.

8. * Informs GSRP Teacher of any safety issues or behavioral issues including inappropriate conduct or activity of children.

9. Performs other duties as assigned by the GSRP Teacher or Supervisor of Preschool Programs.

10. Implements the GSRP as defined by the state Department of Education.
