Job summary

The Pre-Press Specialist will review client files, format layouts, and ensure correct cropping, folds, and color management for printing projects in Timonium, Maryland.

The role involves working with digital and litho press files, using Mac/PC software, and maintaining awareness of file formats and offset printing processes.

Qualifications

• Experience with files that go to Digital Presses and/or Litho Presses ideal.
• Must be able to work with various graphic design and layout software applications commonly used on Mac's and PC's.
• Good understanding of digital file formats (pdf, tiff, eps) from different operating systems (Mac and PC).
• Basic color management skills and the ability to work with different digital formats.
• Must have an understanding of the offset printing process and how one color affects another.
• Mechanical skills using small hand tools for repairs/maintenance on printing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Review electronic files from clients for thoroughness before plate making.
• Use desktop publishing software to format print jobs to paper dimensions.
• Determine layout with folds, trims, bleeds and crop marks; add color bars as needed.
• Identify missing or problematic components and communicate with Customer Service and production.
• Collaborate with Customer Service reps, customers, and production to resolve issues.
