Job summary

Whole Foods Market in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a team member to buy, replenish and merchandise prepared foods, monitor inventory, and support regional purchasing and promotions. The role emphasizes accurate ordering, cost control, and maintaining high standards for freshness and display quality.

You will work with Kitchen Manager and Team Leaders, assist with customer service and counter service, and help ensure food safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of Buying/Merchandising
• Extensive product knowledge, including production, distribution, seasonal availability, trends
• Ability to educate team on product knowledge and display best practices
• Strong math skills and familiarity with stock control
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook and ordering systems

Responsibilities

• Purchases and replenishes food for preparation through proper buying procedures.
• Monitors and acts upon open PO reports for purchases and credits.
• Controls spoilage and shrink, achieves turn goals, participates in inventory.
• Assists with counter service and cooks as scheduled or necessary.
• Maintains positive relationships with vendors and communicates needs to Kitchen Manager.
• Cost recipes with Team Leader and oversee customer special orders.
• Supports inventories and ensures pricing accuracy and display quality.
• Provides excellent customer service and promotes suggestive selling.
