Job summary

Blount Fine Foods is hiring a Prep Lead for the 1st shift (5:00 AM–1:30 PM). The role focuses on leading the Prep department, ensuring efficient processing of divisional ingredients, and guiding a trained team. Weekend work may be required. Full-time position with a competitive hourly pay range.

The Prep Lead will ensure accurate production, maintain inventory accuracy, and uphold GMP/HACCP standards while safeguarding allergen controls and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and train the prep team to ensure accurate, efficient processing of ingredients.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy within the department and support equipment operations.
  • Enforce GMP/HACCP guidelines and allergen controls to protect product integrity.
  • Complete required paperwork accurately and adhere to SOPs and safety policies.
  • Collaborate with leadership to optimize zone efficiency and reduce waste.

The pay range for this opportunity is $21.00- $21.52 hour.

Job Summary

The Prep Lead position is responsible for leading the Prep department in the efficient and accurate processing of divisional manufacturing ingredients during their designated shift. May be required prep or perform any additional responsibilities assigned by leadership.

In the event of an absence, position will be filled by trained personnel.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist with guiding, training, and leading the team to ensure the accurate and efficient processing of divisional manufacturing ingredients.
  • Responsible for leading accurate and efficient processing, while minimizing and eliminating waste and prep delays.
  • Responsible for inventory accuracy within the department/area in which they are assigned.
  • Support efforts for the continuous and efficient operation of all departmental processing equipment.
  • Verify departmental HACCP, GMP, and Allergen guidelines are followed, and ensure integrity of all ingredients, minimizing/eliminating the possibility of foreign material introduced throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Other responsibilities w/ similar skill and work conditions as assigned.

Operating Equipment

  • Safely operated manual and/or electric pallet jacks. (Plant Certification).
  • Safely operate all equipment withing the department.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Responsible to lead a team of employees.
  • Responsible for developing and training employees
  • Responsible for directing, coordinating, coaching, and recognizing employees to create a positive work environment.
  • Responsible for communicating with prep leadership about employee concerns and status of zone efficiency.
  • Responsible and accountable for departmental KPI’s.

Responsibilities for Food Safety

  • Responsible for completing required paperwork accurately and honestly as applicable.
  • Must adhere to all corporate GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), established SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and all Food and Employee Safety policies.
  • Must adhere to all Allergen control programs and procedures as applicable.
  • Responsible for reporting suspicious packages, activities, and individuals.
  • If monitoring CCPs (Critical Control Points), must be trained in HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and adhere to approved HACCP plan(s).

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to walk; occasionally climb or balance; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds (with assist). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • Temperature: > 60 F Production Area < 38 F Refrigerated Areas
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme cold.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and requires hearing protection.
