Job summary

The Tradition Senior Living in Dallas – Prestonwood is seeking a Prep Cook to assist the cook and Chef in preparing food items and maintaining high sanitation standards. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen, following SOPs and safety procedures under the Executive Chef's guidance.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year restaurant cooking experience, can read and communicate in English, and are committed to reliability, teamwork, and seniors' care.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience cooking in a restaurant setting.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Food Handler Permit.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Physically able to perform tasks in a fast-paced kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Arrive to work at the schedule time.
  • Preps all food items following standard recipes within time.
  • Follows recipes, portion control and prep specifications as set by the Chef.
  • Properly measure and assemble ingredients; cut and/or portion all food items as specified by prep sheets and Chef.
  • Stock/Restocks items online.
  • Cleans and maintains station in safety, sanitation and organizational practices.
  • Maintains knowledge to properly use and maintain all equipment.
  • Assists with cleaning and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers and storage areas.
  • Ensure quality and safety of food by performing sanitary measures and proper storage.

The Tradition Senior Living is a Texas-based Luxury Senior Living organization committed to excellence in all we do to serve our residents. Since our inception, we have expanded to multiple locations in the Dallas, Houston, and Fort Worth areas. Each community offers a comprehensive continuum of care that includes Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care.

We are currently seeking a Prep Cook at our Dallas- Prestonwood community. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the cook and Chef in the preparation of food items along with maintaining a high-quality sanitation standard. They must be prepared to work in a systematic, organized, and fast paced fashion with the ability to take direction. The line cook must follow all safety and sanitation procedures and uphold all kitchen standards set by the chef. The Prep Cook/Utility Team Member reports directly to our Executive Chef who oversees day to day operations of the community's Food & Beverage department.

Responsibilities
  • Arrive to work at the schedule time
  • Preps all food items as directed in a sanitary manner following standard recipes & procedures within specified time
  • Follows recipes, portion control and prep specifications as set by the Chef
  • Properly measure and assembles ingredients; cut and/or portion all food items as specified by prep sheets and Chef
  • Stock/Restocks items online
  • Cleans and maintains station in practicing good safety, sanitation, & organizational skills
  • Has knowledge to properly use & maintain all equipment
  • Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, & organization of kitchen, walk in coolers, & and all storage areas
  • Ensure quality and safety of food by performing standard & any additional sanitary measures including sweeping the floors, cleaning of surfaces, as well as proper covering & storage of food items according to SOPs
  • Understands and complies with food safety & temperature standards
  • Work at a rapid pace while maintaining attention to detail
  • Other duties as assigned
Required
  • At least one year of experience cooking in a restaurant setting
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Food Handler Permit
  • Possesses sound organizational and time management skills
  • All general staffing requirements:
  • Free of communicable disease
  • Able to physically/mentally perform tasks
  • Criminal record clearance
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • General understanding of the needs of the seniors
  • Willingness to learn
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Stands and walks short distances. Frequent lifting of 20 –30 pounds. Bends, squats, kneels, and reaches. Activity level is high.
