Job summary

Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose, CO is seeking a Cook to join our care team. This role focuses on meal preparation, proper portion control, and supporting residents with nutritious options in a warm, service-oriented environment.

You will work Mon-Fri, 11:30 am to 8 pm, with opportunities for growth within Volunteers of America National Services. We value compassion, teamwork, and quality service, and provide benefits including PTO, life insurance, and wellness incentives.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; quantity cooking and therapeutic diets preferred.
  • Minimum one year healthcare food service experience preferred.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioning standards.

Responsibilities

  • Completes defined food preparation, serving of meals and cleaning duties according to procedures.
  • Plans and initiates cooking schedule for food preparation to meet meal schedule.
  • Prepares, seasons, cooks and serves meat, main dish, soup and vegetables with proper portions.
  • Prepares nutritional snacks for residents as assigned.
  • Performs other duties or special assignments as directed by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services.

What You Bring (Requirements)
  • High School diploma/GED required preferred. Education in quantity cooking and therapeutic diets preferred.
  • Minimum of one year food service experience in a healthcare dietary setting preferred.
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
  • General knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioned serving required.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
  • Completes defined food preparation, serving of meals and cleaning duties according to proper procedures, using various dietary equipment and supplies, as assigned by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services and Management Team.
  • Plans and initiates cooking schedule for food preparation to meet meal schedule.
  • Prepares, seasons, cooks and serves meat, main dish, soup and vegetable for assigned meal; ensures appropriate portioned servings according to portion control standards.
  • Prepares nutritional snacks for residents as assigned.
  • Performs other duties or special assignments as directed by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
