Job summary

The Palace Group in Coral Gables, FL is seeking a Prep Cook to support the Chef in preparing daily menus for our Luxury Independent Living community. This role requires 2 years’ cooking experience and the ability to follow detailed orders while maintaining high sanitation standards.

You will estimate quantities, rotate stock, label items, and ensure production schedules are met, including Daily Specials and residents’ dietary preferences, in a professional institutional kitchen.

Qualifications

• 2 years’ experience in quantity cooking, Catering & Banquets.
• Experience in an institutional kitchen with mechanical food service equipment.
• Restaurant line service cooking according to written orders.
• Ability to follow supervisor’s instructions written and verbal.
• Ability to practice The Palace Principles("Teamwork", "Safety" & "Ask! Don't Assume!")
• Functional Math ability at high school level.
• High school degree or equivalent, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and handle food items under the direction of the Chef, in accordance with the daily production schedule.
• Ability to estimate quantities of food required, to order inventory and rotate food items as needed.
• Properly store and label food items.
• Meet meals and production schedules.
• Prepare food items based on Daily Special orders, diet orders and residents’ food preferences.
• Maintain sanitation standards & food handling based on County, State & Federal regulations.
