A local wine and beer bar in Castro Valley is seeking a Prep Cook Lead to join their culinary team. This role involves leading kitchen operations, ensuring food preparation areas are clean and organized, and actively participating in cooking and plating. Ideal candidates should have basic knife skills, a current CA Food Handlers Certificate, and the ability to work well under pressure. Shifts are available Tuesday to Sunday, offering a vibrant environment within the culinary scene.

Qualifications

• Must be able to speak and understand English.
• Must be able to stand on your feet for 6 – 8 hours.
• Basic knife skills required.
• Must hold a current CA Food Handlers Certificate.
• Ability to work well under pressure is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and ensure the kitchen is organized, clean, and operational.
• Prepare ingredients, cook, and plate food.
• Maintain cleanliness in food preparation areas.
• Manage washing, sorting, and storing of utensils and ingredients.
• Follow Opening and Closing procedures specified by management.
• Prepare salads and desserts; assist with waste disposal.
• Clean equipment, floors, and kitchen areas; follow opening/closing procedures.

Job description

Cordial Bottle Shop + Wine Bar is a wine and beer bar with a hoodless kitchen and retail bottle shop. We are looking for talented, passionate, organized, and dependable culinary people.

Job duties

• As our Prep Cook Lead you will work independently under the guidance of our Head Chef and/or our General Manager, with the support of our prep cook. Your job is to ensure that the kitchen is organized, clean, and operational. You will also be involved in preparing ingredients, cooking, and plating food.
• Ensuring the food preparation areas are clean and hygienic
• Washing utensils and dishes and making sure they are stored properly
• Sorting, storing, labeling and distributing ingredients
• Washing, peeling, chopping, cutting and cooking foodstuffs and helping to prepare salads and desserts
• Disposing of garbage, compost, and recycling
• Cleaning the food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen tools or areas
• Sweeping and mopping floors, wiping down walls and equipment
• Follow Opening and Closing procedures as specified by management
