Job summary

Troon in Punta Gorda, FL is seeking a Prep Cook to join a fast-paced hospitality team. This role prepares a variety of menu items for restaurant and banquet operations, with emphasis on quality and safety principles.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and may have 1–3 months related experience. We offer both part-time and full-time opportunities with a pay rate of $20.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Follows recipes and directions for proper food preparation.
  • Monitors product freshness to maintain quality.
  • Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
  • Prepares equipment for cooking.
  • Operates utensils for weighing, measuring, mixing, slicing, and kneading.
  • Ensures proper food handling: wrapping, labeling, stocking, and temps.
  • Receives and inventories food and beverage supplies.
  • Cleans and sanitizes workstation and equipment.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by the Department Manager.

Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour, Part-time and Full-time positions available.

General Purpose:

Prepares various food products for restaurant and banquet operations, guestconsumptionand enjoyment.

  • Follows recipes and/or product directions for proper food preparation
  • Maintains quality control for all products, including monitoring freshness of product daily
  • Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or cart
  • Preparesappropriate equipmentfor cooking
  • Operates kitchen utensils and/or equipment used for weighing, measuring, mixing, washing, peeling, cutting, grinding, stirring, straining, slicing,assemblingand kneading of food products
  • Ensures proper food handling procedures are followed wrapping, labeling, dating, stocking, storing,rotatingand checking temperature of products
  • Receives and inventories food and beverage product and supplies
  • Cleans and sanitizes workstation work station and equipment
  • Ability to perform any other duties as assigned by Department Manager

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands:

Frequently stands, uses hands, talks, hears, tastes and smells. Regularly walks and reaches with hands and arms. Occasionally sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.

Regularly worksin extreme heat (non-weather) and near moving mechanical parts. Occasionaly works in extreme cold (non-weather), wet or humid conditions (non-weather), near toxic or caustic chemicals,and inoutdoor weather.Noiselevel is moderate.
