Job summary

Meriwether Godsey is seeking a Full-time Prep Cook to help prepare fabulous meals at Germantown Friends School, Philadelphia. The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, FBI background check, and ServSafe certification. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

with a $19/hour wage and benefits including uniforms and meals. Responsibilities include kitchen prep, ingredient labeling and stocking, basic cooking, safe food handling, and maintaining clean, organized work

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• ServSafe Certification required.
• FBI background check required.
• Ability to measure products and convert units of measure.
• Awareness of commercial kitchen equipment and how to perform routine maintenance and cleaning.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine kitchen tasks and follow the prep list to plan duties.
• Label and stock ingredients for organization and access.
• Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, and other prep work.
• Set up workstations and ingredients for recipes.
• Undertake basic cooking duties like reducing sauces and parboiling.
• Prepare simple dishes, such as salads and entrees.
• Record temperatures and follow food safety standards.
• Keep coolers, freezers, and storerooms organized and dated.
• Maintain clean and sanitized work areas and equipment.
• Attend daily production meetings and contribute ideas on leftovers and efficiency.
• Perform duties using food safety and sanitation best practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Meriwether Godsey is looking for a Full-timePrep Cookto help prepare fabulous meals at Germantown Friends School, an independent day school for students in Early Childhood through Grade 12 in Philadelphia's historic Germantown neighborhood.

• $19 per hour
• Must be available to work: Monday-Friday, 6:30a-3p

What the Prep Cook will do:

• Perform routine kitchen tasks and follow the prep list created to plan duties
• Label and stock all ingredients on shelves for organization and easy access
• Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and other meal prep
• Set up workstations and ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipes
• Undertake basic cooking duties, such as reducing sauces and parboiling food
• Prepare simple dishes, such as salads and entrees
• Take and record temperatures, following all required food handling and sanitation standards to ensure food safety
• Assist with the organization and sanitation of coolers, freezers, and storerooms: all items covered, labeled, and dated
• Keep work areas organized, cleaning and sanitizing work areas and equipment
• Attend production meetings daily, offering input concerning leftover utilization, efficiency, product quality, etc.
• Perform all duties by food safety and sanitation best practices
• Other duties, as assigned
• Prep cook (cutting/chopping, minor cooking, panning up food), receiving and storage of deliveries (proper rotation, temperature taking) and utility (dish room, mopping, sweeping, garbage)

What the Prep Cook will need:

• Must be able to pass an FBI background check
  
• High School diploma or equivalent
• ServSafe® Certification, principles of food production techniques
• Ability to measure products and convert units of measure
• Awareness of commercial kitchen equipment and how to perform routine maintenance and cleaning
