Job summary

Great Western Dining Service is seeking a skilled Prep Cook to support our Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center kitchen in Hutchinson, KS. This role is scheduled Monday through Thursday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, focusing on prep, portioning, and collaborating with a professional kitchen team to deliver high-quality meals.

The ideal candidate will follow recipes and production information, maintain a clean, sanitized work environment, and demonstrate strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Proven cook experience.
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling).
• Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment.
• Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Very good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
• Prepare, portion, cook food items for various meal periods or special events
• Ability to follow basic recipes and production information
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Follow all company HACCP and safety policies

Prep Cook - M-Th 3-8 PM

Great Western Dining Service at our Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in Hutchinson, KS, location is looking for a skilled Prep Cook to prepare delicious meals.. An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions. They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is important.
