Job summary

A family-friendly café in Helena, Montana is looking for a motivated Prep Cook to assist in food preparation and maintain a clean kitchen environment. Responsibilities include food prep for the line cooks, following health standards, and performing deep cleaning duties. The ideal candidate should possess teamwork skills, have a passion for cooking, and be physically capable of working in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year in a food preparation position preferred.
• Must be interested in cooking and self-motivated.
• Ability to lift cases and pots up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all soups, sauces, slicing, dicing, and food prep.
• Maintain a sanitary kitchen work station.
• Perform deep cleaning during closing.
• Follow Health Dept standards and maintain safety.
• Assist in closing duties including kitchen deep clean.

Position Description & Duties

Responsible as trained for all soups, sauces, slicing and dicing meats and vegetables and food prep and recipes in the kitchen. Produce prepared items for the line cooks. Responsible for maintaining a sanitary kitchen work station. Prep cooks will clean during and at the end of their shift.

• This can be a Part-Time or Full-Time Position
• Will train and prefer a minimum of one year in a food preparation position. Must be knowledgeable of the Health Department standards.
• Starting wages depend on job history and experience.
• A minimum of one year in a food preparation preferred but not required.
• Must be interested in cooking relevant, be mentally sharp and self‑motivated, enjoy/encourage positive teamwork, and be able to follow written instruction and recipes.
• Must be able to exert fast‑paced mobility for periods of up to six hours in length. Must have the ability to lift cases, pots, pans (etc.) up to 50 pounds in weight.
• Must be able to reach, bend, and stoop, frequently. Must possess finger dexterity to use knives & small tools adeptly.
• During closing, must perform deep sweeps and mop the entire kitchen, refrigerator, freezer and other back‑of‑house areas as assigned daily.
