USPI Surgery Center of Boerne seeks a PreOp/PACU Charge Nurse to lead the Preop/PACU team and ensure smooth case flow in a multi-room ambulatory setting.

The role involves staff scheduling, coordinating with physicians, and collaborating with ancillary departments to maintain high-quality patient care. Weekdays only; mornings or evenings may be required.

Qualifications

• Current Texas Nursing License.
• CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• BSN preferred.
• Minimum 1 year nursing leadership.
• Minimum 2–5 years Preop/PACU experience.
• Strong problem solving and communication.
• Ability to manage schedules and staff meetings.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique and their implementation.
• Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics.
• Excellent teaching skills.
• Performance Improvement familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Preop/PACU staff to ensure smooth case flow.

PreOp/PACU Charge Nurse

USPI Surgery Center of Boerne is hiring a PreOp/PACU Charge Nurse. Situated just north of San Antonio. We have 3 OR rooms and 2 Treatment rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Gastroenterology, General, Orthopedics. Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day. ****

Job Duties

Supervises the Preop/PACU staff to provide a daily smooth flow of cases.
Prepares monthly schedules.
Prepare, coordinate and perform monthly staff meetings
Communicate effectively with physicians to resolve issues and provide efficiency and smooth case flow.
Assists with education by coordinating and/or giving in-services.
Prepare schedules in the afternoon for next day.
Communicate with vendors and representatives for supplies, equipment or instruments
Works closely with Materials and Sterile Processing Dept to coordinate supplies & instrument needs.
Preparing and administering annual evaluations
Works closely with manager with hiring and orienting Preop/PACU staff members
Helps in revising and preparing policies that relate to Preop/PACU functions
Assistance in maintaining compliance for Joint Commission surveys
Enters company data collections and observations with company EDGE
MIDAS data entry.
Enters data into Kronos time keeping program
Assistance with staff counseling as necessary
Coordinates and assists in Performance Improvement Projects.

Qualifications

• Current Texas Nursing License
• Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
• Minimum One year nursing leadership experience
• Minimum of 2- 5 years' experience in Pre-Op/PACU
• Ability to recognize, evaluate, solve problems and correct errors.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, hospital staff, physicians, vendors and the public.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Demonstrates accountability, professionalism, openness, receptive to change, creativity and innovative.
• Ability to adapt to change quickly, strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient.
• Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation
• Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics.
• Excellent teaching skills
• Basic knowledge of Performance Improvement ideology
