Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball is interviewing candidates for a Registered Nurse – PreOp opening in our operating suite. You will evaluate patients prior to surgery and provide education to patients and families about the procedure and peri-operative process.

You will assume responsibility for patient preparation, including IV therapy, preoperative medications and surgical site verification, while collaborating with a dynamic interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• ACLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• RN license in Texas.
• Associate Degree in nursing or related field.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education regarding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients, including IV therapy, preoperative medications and site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care following evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including providers and surgical staff.
• Apply the nursing process, critical thinking and leadership to deliver safe nursing care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor during shift, and document changes and care provided.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up.
