Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball is hiring a Perianesthesia Registered Nurse (RN) to provide age-specific, culturally competent care to patients undergoing or recovering from anesthesia. The RN assesses patients preoperatively and collaborates with the physician and anesthesiologist to prepare for procedures and ensure safe care.

The role includes managing postoperative pain, nausea, and thermoregulation, delegating tasks per Texas Nurse Practice Act, and delivering continuous improvement in

Qualifications

• Education required for state registered nurse license.
• BSN preferred; 1 year experience in related clinical area.
• Current Texas RN license; BLS, ACLS, PALS required or as per policy.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients before surgery.
• Provide patient and family education around peri-operative process.
• Prepare patient including IV therapy and preoperative meds.
• Participate in surgical site verification and time-out procedures.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor and document changes.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up.
